My mad dream of an essay

In the stories "sound of thunder" and "self reliance" are both about making choices. In life are future is determined on are choices earlier on in life. For the next paragraphs I'll be talking about how are choices we make in this moment influence are future.

In the story "self reliance" we learn about Emerson and what he believes and how we should be are self and not let other judge us. In some cases the choices we make by being are self may not be the best idea because it could be interpreted in the wrong way and think we could do what ever. However are choices in Emerson point in veiw I think would be to make smart choices and think of our future and be smart about it.For exsample Emerson in his reading talk about being yourself and not let other bug you but by being yourself it doesn't mean to just do what ever you want because later on in life the choices you made will be where you stand in the future like if you start to party and do drugs and think you don't need to go to school then you probably won't have the best job and will screw up your future. So are choices we make now do effect are future.

In the story "Sound of thunder" by Ray Bradbury Eckel pay $10,000 to travel with time safari inc that take you back in time to the dinosaurs age and is allowed to hunt them. In this story the choices you make may ruin your future. In the story you had to stay on the trail and follow strict instruction and Eckel didn't  follow them and step off trail which messes up the future. In this journey you were only aloud to shot animals with marks on them. The choice Eckel made almost ruin his future and even almost had him killed but he lucky his safari leaders didn't kill him.

In both storie "on self reliance" and "Sound of thunder" your choices you choose will effect your future etheir in a good way or can ruin your future. These moment in "self reliance" influence are future by making us think over are choices but do it in a way to make us not ruin are future. In "Sound of Thunder" these moment influence us by making right decisions and follow rules.

As you can see in my first paragraph I stated my thesis. In the following paragraph I disscussed what self reliance was about and how it influences are future by the choices we make. For the paragraph after that one I disscused what "sound of thunder" was about and how the choices we chooses effect are future. After that paragraph I compared both stories in the same paragraph. My last paragraph is closing paragraph.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING FART)

Response to A "Sound Of Thunder"

I read some of the story I didnt finsh it but what I understand from the story is Eckel went on a safrai but going back to the past to hunt aniamal in the past like dinosaurs . In order for him to do this hourney he had to pay $10,000 just to travel and hunt and if he doesnt follow any of the other rule he need to pay $10,000 again.

Emerson Child Essay

In the the essay on self reliance by Emerson you learn about him as a thinker and how he go about thing and how he see everything. In the following paragraphs I will explain his syntax his tone and diction as if i was saying it to a 10 year old.

In this first paragraph I am a explain his syntax. The way Emerson chooses and uses his word are pretty straight foward it not like young good man brown where you would need to look up alot of words even as an adult. Emerson uses alot of qoutes to get his message through. For exsample one of my favorite qoute are "Do not think the youth has no force, because he cannot speak to you and me. Hark! in the next room his voice is sufficiently clear and emphatic."This is one one of my favorite qoutes because it saying us as younger kids had forces because we would scream out what we want and wouldn't let us be affected by other people but as we grow older we be more careful with what we do because of how other people would look at us.His syntax is similar to his diction.

In this paragraph I will explain Emerson diction or his choice of word in a particular situation. Emerson choice of word in his essay is pretty obvious for exsample his whole main point of the story is how we let others get into are minds to judge us. We as people care what others think about us and that his point we shouldn't care what other think about us but it unfortunate that we do anyways. For exsample Emerson said "Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again." Which means speak what you want and don't let any one get in the way of it or let them judge you.

In this story Emerson tone is more of a disappointment of how the world became as we grew older. Emerson just want peace and for everyone to be diffrernt and not to be judge. For exsample he said
"I wish it to be sound and sweet, and not to need diet and bleeding. I ask primary evidence that you are a man, and refuse this appeal from the man to his actions. " This mean he want everything to be quiet and non judgementap and for us to die and say what we want with out let anyone bring you ng you down or feel uncomfortable. Emerson tone is just depression and disappointment of what world had to become.

As you can see in the last paragraphs I disscused the syntax, diction, main idea, and tone in a way for a 10 year old to understand. As a 10 year old he/she should know his main idea was to not let no one judge you an to be yourself like you did when you were younger.

I am self reliant

self reliance notes
To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men

Do not think the youth has no force, because he cannot speak to you and me. Hark! in the next room his voice is sufficiently clear and emphatic.

You must court him: he does not court you. But the man is, as it were, clapped into jail by his consciousness.

He would utter opinions on all passing affairs, which being seen to be not private, but necessary, would sink like darts into the ear of men, and put them in fear.

Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members.

I am ashamed to think how easily we capitulate to badges and names, to large societies and dead institutions.

doctrine-

philanthropist

succumb

I wish it to be sound and sweet, and not to need diet and bleeding. I ask primary evidence that you are a man, and refuse this appeal from the man to his actions.

I cannot consent to pay for a privilege where I have intrinsic right. Few and mean as my gifts may be, I actually am, and do not need for my own assurance or the assurance of my fellows any secondary testimony.

ostentation

Their every truth is not quite true

chagrins

The other terror that scares us from self-trust is our consistency

Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again

To be great is to be misunderstood.

Honor is venerable to us because it is no ephemeris

Team vocab

The team vocabulary is used to explain the presidental debate .this year debate was very agravating. Donalds trump word toward hiliary were very venomous. Neither of them were solid or hypnotized toward the audiance. I really want hillary and donald to dissolve from the presidental debate because we wont be able to to suspend the tranfomation the u.s.  is about to exsperience. Donald trump was consitantly acussing hilary about her emails. No one anticipated that there arguement would be so weak. Literature Analysis #2

1. Briefly summarize the plot of the novel you read, and explain how the narrative fulfills the author's purpose (based on your well-informed interpretation of same).

In the story "Be careful what you wish for" by R.L. Stine the plot is first helping the lady who grants wishes. Then saying the wishes but carefully and not taking all the wishes at once and lastly be careful what you say.

2. Succinctly describe the theme of the novel. Avoid clichés.

In the story the theme is giving Samantha three wishes but the wishes were granted as close as possible to the wishes but not always right and ruined life's.

3. Describe the author's tone. Include a minimum of three excerpts that illustrate your point(s).

The author tone of the author was mixed emotions. One emotion was happy. Another one was sadness. Lastly was a fierce emotion. The author tone changed from happy to scared when Samantha wishes that she was better then the whole basketball team because the wish made everyone weak but her.

4. Describe a minimum of ten literary elements/techniques you observed that strengthened your understanding of the author's purpose, the text's theme and/or your sense of the tone. For each, please include textual support to help illustrate the point for your readers. (Please include edition and page numbers for easy reference.)

Setting: is taken place at the school, forest, and at Samantha house. I know these places are the plots because that where the author told the reader.
Conflict: Samantha didn't get along with the other girls and was the worst player on the basketball team.
 Mood: fierce
Genre: fiction
Point of view: Third Person

Characters aren't people, but they often provide the most compelling connection with a text.

1. Describe two examples of direct characterization and two examples of indirect characterization.
- Direct characterization- When Judith and Anna got into a fight.
-Direct characterization- When Judith tripped Samantha on purpose.
-Indirect characterization- When Samantha wishes for Judith to disappear.
Indirect characterization- When Samantha turned into a bird.

Why does the author use both approaches, and to what end (i.e., what is your lasting impression of the character as a result)?

The author uses indirect and direct characterization to make the reading interesting. My last impression on the story was does Judith ever take back her wish.

2. Does the author's syntax and/or diction change when s/he focuses on character? How? Example(s)?

Yes because Judith went from being mean to Sam to being nice to Sam.

3. Is the protagonist static or dynamic? Flat or round? Explain.

It dynamic because all the changing in whishes and emotions.

4. After reading the book did you come away feeling like you'd met a person or read a character? Analyze one textual example that illustrates your reaction.

Yes and No because I know the Characters attitude but it changes from the wishes so I quite didn't get to met the rest of Judith.

Some may say that most authority are bad people like cops and I some what agree but some cops and authority can be actually helpful or save you from danger. Now when your around Authority you may feel somewhat threaten weather it a parent, teacher, cop, someone who has more power, or even by a military branch. When were around parents we want to show are best and show respect and behave. SOCRATIC SEMINAR #1/ EARTH ON TURTLE'S BACK)

The language from the Earth on Turtles back was different because most people now a days talk slang and the story more serious. Also the story was from along time ago and not everyone speaks like that. It important to say word by word to see how the story changed over time and also that people can use different words and the story will have a whole new meaning. Retelling the story can be helpful if your explaining it to someone that doesn't understand. Also if a word or sentence disappears then the whole story can be changed.

  • Because it began as an oral story, "Earth on Turtle's Back" can be found in multiple text versions.  How important is it for a story to be repeated word for word?  Is meaning embellished, distorted, lost, or enhanced in the retelling?
                                                                          ANSWER
The language in the short story is similar to today world because most of the words we use on a daily. For example ''I know'', "to", "are" , ''there'' ,''tried'' ,and ect.
Also how in the story almost all the sentences are short that how when people text now a days there short sentences. Also everything easy to follow and read.

It is important to tell the story because if the story not told word by word the story can have a total different meaning. Also the story always better when it told word by word most of the time not all the time.

Response to ''The Earth On Turtle's Back''

In the short story I found it interesting because of the wife dream and how the husband said it was a dream of great powers and how there was nothing but water and animals underneath them. I liked the part where the animals saved her from falling into the ocean and how the Duck, Beaver, and Loon tried to bring up earth but couldn't but then how a small voice said '' I will bring up earth or die trying'' and the small animal Muskrat brought up earth and sense they didn't know where to put earth I like how turtle let the animals put it on his back so the girl would have somewhere to stand.

    My First Impression

My first impression to the rights to your opinions was the 5 pages of the reading was intresting. I find that mist people don't know there rights. I feel like everyone should know there rights. I think that everyone had the right to say what they want depending on the moment. If everyone knew there right i am sure it would help them out through life and on difficult moment if there in trouble with the law. Also when the writter mentioned about a friend crossing the street and a car was coming and he told her there was a car coming and kinda saved her life i can relate to that. I can relate because I did the same for a friend when a car was coming because I wouldnt want to watch a friend get hit right in front of me.

My frist impression on "Richard Cory" was kinda depressing. I found it depressing because everyone believed that he had a good life and he was the perfect type of guy but no one new what was really going on. No one would of thought that he was going through rough times and would put a bullet through his head. Everyone thought he was rich and living his life happy.
